Taste Of Fear Chapter 38

After ten days Shyam left for Gujarat, now trained and with a licenced gun, revenge in his heart, ready to face his foes. He wasn’t afraid but alert. Charmi had booked a plane ticket for Chandigarh to Ahmedabad. He now knew Charmi had tangled with him. Pathankot to Chandigarh he travelled by bus.

When he reached Satara station, it was four of noon. The place where Shyam first time met his Archana. His legs stopped. He looked at the place for the last time. Wiped tears and mumbled, “Goodbye.”

He never wanted to visit that place again. He kept walking. His heart wanted to look back but he didn’t as he knew the old memories would shatter him. He decided never to look at Chandigarh not even at the map but the destiny was a character and the special province had decided something else.

He had given her words to Charmi but only to eat them. He didn’t want to come back. He had a soft corner for her but he didn’t want to love anyone but Archana, even her memories were enough for him to live the rest of his life. He was sorry for breaking the promise but he had no way.

He came out of Satara station and waved his hand to stop an auto.

“Airport.” He said as the auto braked near him.

“I’m going there but I’ve some work at the baby bazaar,” the driver said, “if you can wait ten minutes in the way then okay.”

“My flight is on the evening.” He said and got into the auto.

Anjali Dheeman had left the job from MarryMe.com at Delhi and had settled in Chandigarh with her husband. She has eavesdropped Victor about how he trapped Shyam and Archana was the biggest mistake of her. Though, she hadn’t made another mistake of going to the police. She had passed months hiding in her home but now she had forgotten about Victor or maybe her fear had loosened.

She was weaving her way through the traffic. In her hand was an infant, her child age of almost a year, pressed at her breast. Her steps showing she was in hurry, her face telling her fear. Her body language was like she was escaping from someone and wanted to reach some safe place.

The fear in eyes was indication her life was at risk and she knew it.

And yes, it was. Her life was at risk. When she went to baby bazaar on the road of sector 17 to the airport she saw a black van parked some yards away from the baby bazaar. She recognized the van it was of her boss Virpreet alias Victor.

She could have called the police after seeing van but she thought if Victor was there for other work then her hiding place would be exposed. She didn’t call the police, not wanting enmity with a man like Victor. She had called Archana and warned her about Victor and that was enough reason for Victor to kill her. So now she didn’t want any more enmity with him.

She pressed her child to her breast tightly and hurried to an auto station near the baby bazaar. In her other hands were shopping bags, full of stuff for her baby.

When she was halfway to the auto parked in rows she heard screeching noise of wheels behind her. She knew what would happen to her, now.

The auto in which Shyam was stopped at baby bazaar as the auto driver had some work with one of the auto drivers at an auto stand near the baby bazaar.

“Wait ten minutes, I am coming.” The driver said and went to auto stand.

Now Shyam was alone in auto and nothing to do except watching around. Suddenly he heard screeching noise of tires. He looked in direction of the voice to see a black van. It stopped near Anjali. a man came out from the van. He was Balbir. Before Anjali could run he snatched her child and ordered her to get in the van.

Anjali had no way but get the van. People watching around couldn’t understand it was kidnapping. They mistook it as a quarrel between a husband and a wife. But Shyam didn’t.

How can he forget Balbir?

Balbir was the man who had tortured him in the dark caller. Though, he didn’t know Balbir by his name but by his work.

Shyam also didn’t know Anjali but he understood it was kidnapping. Perhaps they would have kidnapped Archana in the same way.

As the thought of Archana came to his mind, the hit rushed inside his eyes and it grew ember. The blood in his veins rushed to his mind.

Shyam got off the auto and took the gun out but the van had caught speed and there wasn’t any benefit of wasting bullets.

His eyes searched around and found a car parked near the auto. A Punjabi man was resting in the driver seat, perhaps waiting for his wife who was shopping in the baby bazaar mall.

“Come out, mother fucker.” Shyam slammed fist on the windshield of the car.

“How dare you…” the Punjabi opened the door. His bulky frame told Shyam he wasn’t the man who easily give him his car.

Shyam had no way but use the gun. He aimed the gun at Punjabi.

Punjabi looked at him in awe. Shyam’s long hair and anger face told him to surrender.

“Don’t shot.” He upped his hand.

Shyam signalled him to stay away.

As he stepped away, Shyam got in the car, place the gun on the dashboard and sped on. The car dashed to the road, the same way the van had gone before a while.

Luckily the car was high tech and had 160 KMPH speed. Before the speed hand touch 100, KMPH Shyam saw that black van. He slowed the car to keep the distance between the van and his car.

In the van, Balbir was unaware he was being chased.
