Chapter 28: "The Weight of an Unspoken Heart"
In Germany, Jaanu was still struggling to accept the truth that had suddenly entered her life.
She sat silently beside the bed, curling her arms around her folded knees. Her fragile frame seemed smaller than usual, as if the burden inside her heart had slowly drained all the strength from her body. On her face, waves of silent emotions flowed endlessly.
It felt as though a storm had risen within her chest—violent and restless—while her eyes carried countless untold stories.
Tears gathered in the corners of her eyes and slipped down her cheeks one by one. Each drop seemed to mock her, whispering cruelly that she had completely lost the battle of her heart before quietly drifting away from her.
Unable to contain the pain inside, she finally tried to release her anguish through trembling words.
“Why, God… why do you always give me pain that I can never accept? What wrong have I done to deserve this punishment? Why is it always like this? Why do you keep taking away the people I love the most?”
Her voice trembled as another tear rolled down.
“Do I not have the right to receive love? Every time I ask you these questions, you remain silent. Please… at least this time, speak. Answer my questions.”
She was speaking to God—though deep inside she knew the answer would never come.
Perhaps that was how life worked. Perhaps God gave the toughest trials only to the kind-hearted people, because He trusted them enough to endure the pain.
She let out a weak, broken laugh through her tears.
“From my childhood until now… nothing I truly wished for has ever been mine. I know… maybe I am not worthy of love. But if that is true, then why do you keep writing it again and again in the fate of this heart that cannot accept it?”
Her chest tightened painfully.
“How can I tell my family that I do not want this marriage? How can I tell my father? That day, your words never truly reached my ears… If only you could take them back.”
Her voice slowly faded into helpless whispers.
“Why do you always give me words that trap me inside them, God? Is there no one who will listen to what my heart wants?”
For a long moment, silence filled the room.
Then, as if locking away her emotions inside an invisible cage, she wiped her tears.
“If my love is not meant to be mine… then what does it matter? At least for the happiness of my family… I should accept this marriage. How can I sacrifice the happiness of my entire family just for myself?”
But her endless tears told a different story.
They revealed the depth of pain hidden inside her heart—pain that no one else could see.
Slowly, the echo of her sobs faded into silence. The tears that had gathered at the edge of her eyes fell onto the cold floor, dissolving into its chill.
Exhausted by grief, Jaanu finally surrendered her aching heart to the rough touch of the floor beneath her. With her head lowered under the unbearable weight of sorrow, she slowly drifted into a restless sleep.

Meanwhile, somewhere else, curiosity filled Karthik’s mind as he looked at the man standing before him.
“Sir… may I ask your name?” he asked politely.
The man smiled faintly.
“My name is Shravan. I run a business. What about you, son?”
“Karthik,” he replied.
Shravan took a deep breath before explaining the situation.
“Look, Karthik… I had finished my work and was about to head home when my car suddenly broke down. Inside this suitcase there was ten lakh rupees. I don’t know how that man found out about it, but he suddenly attacked me and tried to take the suitcase. I don’t know what good deed I must have done in my life, but you appeared at the right moment and saved me. Thank you so much.”
Karthik immediately shook his head.
“Please don’t thank me, Uncle. Anyone in my place would have done the same. If you’re still feeling weak, I can drop you home.”
Shravan’s eyes softened.
“What a good boy you are. Alright then, please do that.”
Soon, Karthik drove Shravan’s car and dropped him at his house.
As soon as they entered, Karthik looked around in amazement. The house was enormous and beautifully designed.
Shravan noticed his expression and chuckled.
“What happened, Karthik? Do you like the house?”
“Uncle, the house is really beautiful,” Karthik replied honestly. “But… I don’t see anyone around.”
Shravan gestured for him to sit.
“First sit down.”
Then he called out loudly, “Suresh!”
A voice immediately came from inside.
“Yes, sir.”
“This is our guest. Bring some tea from the kitchen.”
Karthik quickly interrupted.
“Please, Uncle. No need for tea. I just had dinner at my friend’s house.”
Shravan nodded slowly but his face grew heavy with emotion.
Taking a deep breath, he spoke in a tired voice.
“I live alone, son. I have only one daughter… her name is Aadhya. But she is in Singapore right now. My wife… passed away a few days ago.”
For a moment, the room fell silent.
Now this house that looked grand and luxurious suddenly felt painfully empty.
Karthik’s heart sank.
“I’m really sorry, Uncle… I didn’t mean to bring back painful memories.”
Shravan waved his hand gently.
“It’s alright. Tell me about yourself instead.”
Karthik hesitated for a moment before speaking.
“I’m an orphan…”
Then suddenly he corrected himself.
“No… actually I belong to a very big family. You must have heard about the Narasimha family, right?”
Shravan’s eyes widened slightly.
“Of course! Everyone in the town knows them.”
Karthik continued calmly.
“Yes… I belong to their household.”
A faint smile appeared on Shravan’s face.
Karthik noticed it immediately.
“Uncle… why are you smiling?”
Shravan leaned back in his chair.
“You are an orphan. You have no parents. You grew up under your friend’s care. Your closest friend is Jaya Karthik, whom you call JK. He means more than life to you, and you mean the same to him. You also have three other close friends. The five of you are inseparable. Even JK’s family treats you like their own son.”
He paused before adding quietly,
“And I know many more things about you.”
Karthik suddenly stood up in shock.
“Uncle… how do you know all this? I’m seeing you for the first time in my life!”
Shravan raised his hand calmly.
“Karthik… sit down first.”
Confused but curious, Karthik slowly sat again.
Shravan then spoke in a serious tone.
“First promise me something. Promise that you will help me. After that, I will explain everything.”
Karthik’s confusion only deepened.
“Uncle… what are you saying? I don’t even know who you are. Why should I promise you anything?”
Shravan quickly reassured him.
“You don’t need to be afraid. I mean you no harm. Just listen to me completely.”
He took a deep breath before revealing the truth.
“I have been following you for the past one year. I know every detail about you. You are honest… kind… and trustworthy. There is an important task that only you can do for me.”
Karthik frowned.
“Uncle, I think I should leave. I only helped you out of humanity. I don’t understand anything you’re saying.”
He turned to walk away.
But before he could take another step, Shravan’s desperate voice stopped him.
“Karthik… please! Just one minute.”
His voice carried genuine desperation.
“I’m in a lot of trouble. I truly need your help. Please listen to me fully. After that, whether you help me or not is your decision.”
Seeing the helplessness in the older man’s eyes, Karthik hesitated.
Inside his mind, thoughts raced.
He seems like a good person… and he’s requesting this sincerely.
“Alright,” Karthik finally said. “I will listen. But once you finish explaining, I won’t stay here even for a minute.”
Relief spread across Shravan’s face.
“As I told you earlier, I am a businessman. But my company is currently facing huge losses. The reason behind it is my nephew… Kaushik.”
His expression darkened.
“He’s not a good man. He wants my property. His plan is to marry my daughter and take everything from me. That’s why I sent my daughter to Singapore for her safety.”
He sighed deeply.
“I am getting old, Karthik. I have no one left to trust. I need someone who can save my company from this loss.”
Karthik listened quietly.
Then Shravan said the words that stunned him completely.
“I want you to become the new CEO of my company… Aadhya Tech.”
Karthik’s eyes widened in disbelief.
“CEO?! Uncle, do you even realize what you’re saying?”
He shook his head.
“Why don’t you appoint your daughter instead? How can you give such a big position to someone you barely know?”
Shravan smiled.
“That honesty is exactly why I chose you. I didn’t make this decision suddenly. I have observed you for one whole year.”
His voice became tired and pleading.
“I am exhausted fighting against Kaushik. Please help me.”
Karthik felt completely overwhelmed.
“I’m sorry, Uncle… but I can’t do this. Please find someone else.”
Shravan’s next words pierced straight into Karthik’s heart.
“I know you need a job, Karthik. How long will you keep living under your friend’s shadow? JK has carried your responsibilities like a father all these years. Isn’t it time you repaid that debt with your own efforts?”
Those words rooted themselves deeply in Karthik’s heart.
Inside his mind, memories of JK surfaced.
He has done so much for me… maybe it’s time I stand on my own.
But still, he couldn’t make such a decision alone.
“Uncle,” he finally said, “before I agree, I must discuss this with my friend JK. Only if he agrees… will I accept.”
Shravan smiled with satisfaction.
“Of course. Tomorrow I will personally meet both of you.”
Soon, he asked his driver to drop Karthik home.

But somewhere far away, Jaanu’s heart continued to suffer in silence.
Who is the man Jaanu loves?
Will her pain ever come to an end?
Or will fate continue to test her heart again and again?
The story is only beginning to unfold.
