A Boy With Bloody Eyes

Rohan was known in his village for his strange eyes. They were deep red, almost like drops of blood floating in darkness. People whispered that he was cursed. Children ran away when they saw him, and elders made signs to protect themselves whenever he walked by. But no one truly knew his story.
Rohan lived with his grandmother in a small wooden house near the forest. His parents had disappeared years ago during a terrible storm. Ever since then, his eyes had slowly turned red. Doctors from nearby towns could not explain it. Some said it was an illness, while others believed it was connected to the old legends of the forest.
Despite his frightening appearance, Rohan was kind-hearted. He helped his grandmother collect firewood, fed stray dogs, and secretly left food outside poor families’ homes at night. Yet the villagers ignored his goodness because fear blinded them.
One evening, the village faced a terrible problem. Animals began disappearing from farms. Chickens vanished, goats were found injured, and strange claw marks appeared on trees. At night, eerie growls echoed through the streets. Panic spread quickly.
“The forest spirit is angry!” cried one villager.
“It must be the boy with bloody eyes,” another whispered.
Soon, the villagers gathered outside Rohan’s house carrying sticks and lanterns. Their faces burned with anger and fear.
“You brought this curse upon us!” shouted the village headman.
Rohan stood silently while his grandmother trembled beside him.
“I did nothing,” he said softly.
But no one listened.
That night, unable to bear the hatred any longer, Rohan walked into the forest alone. The moonlight filtered through twisted branches as cold wind brushed against his face. Deep inside the woods, he heard growling again. This time, it sounded closer.
Suddenly, a giant creature leaped from the shadows. It looked like a wolf, but its body was covered in black scales and its eyes glowed bright yellow. Sharp teeth dripped with blood.
Rohan froze.
The beast circled him slowly before attacking. Rohan stumbled backward, but as fear filled him, his bloody eyes began glowing brighter than ever before. A strange heat rushed through his body. Without understanding how, he raised his hand, and a burst of red light exploded from his eyes.
The creature screamed and crashed against a tree.
Rohan stared at his trembling hands. He realized the stories were true. There really was something unusual inside him.
The beast attacked again, fiercer this time. Rohan ran deeper into the forest until he reached ancient ruins covered with vines. Strange symbols glowed faintly on the stones. As he stepped closer, memories flashed through his mind — his parents standing here years ago, protecting him from the same creature.
A voice echoed in the darkness.
“You are the Guardian.”
Rohan turned and saw an old man dressed in black robes. His silver beard touched the ground.
“The bloody eyes are not a curse,” the old man explained. “They are a gift passed through your family for generations. Your parents sacrificed themselves to trap the Shadow Beast, but now it has returned.”
Rohan’s heart pounded.
“Then how do I stop it?”
“You must face it without fear,” said the old man.
At dawn, the beast marched toward the village. People screamed and hid inside their homes. Just as the creature prepared to attack, Rohan stepped forward.
The villagers gasped.
His bloody eyes burned like fire under the rising sun.
The beast roared and charged at him. Rohan remembered the old man’s words. He stood firm instead of running. Red light burst from his eyes, surrounding the monster like chains. The creature fought wildly, but Rohan used all his strength to hold it back.
Finally, with one final cry, the Shadow Beast dissolved into ashes.
Silence filled the village.
The same people who once feared Rohan now stared at him in shock and gratitude. The village headman slowly stepped forward.
“We were wrong about you,” he admitted quietly.
For the first time in years, Rohan smiled.
His eyes were still red, still frightening to some, but now the villagers saw something beyond them. They saw courage, kindness, and sacrifice.
From that day on, Rohan was no longer called the boy with bloody eyes.
He became known as the Guardian of the Forest.
