Currently, the advertiser Sylvester da Cunha, the gifted manager behind the legendary Amul girl, has passed away. His easy and powerful style had echoed in India’s core, producing Amul, an icon of India’s self-governance, economic development and racial harmony. These patterns of collaboration have modernised dairy farming and have been proven to be a successful way to make a profit.
Amul’s Expedition - An Agenda for Development and Augmentation
The Amul expedition is a trial transformation at the base level, and dedication to the agricultural development programme can result in a life-changing achievement. In 1946, a compact collaboration started with a relocation in Anand, Gujarat. This was an objection to stop the harmful commercial practices of daily milk sellers' commanders by Tribhuvandas Patel. Subsequently, the collective was named Amul, the initials form for Anand Milk Union Limited, and began as A small industry with only two rural milk cooperative societies, manufacturing 247 litres of milk. In the year 1950, Dr Verghese Kurian, who is known as the Milkman of India, cooperated with Tribhuvandas Patel. With his pure determination and unorthodox techniques, he created a white revolution, globally reaching the manufacturing of milk. In 1946, the combined movement started in Gujarat. In 1955, Amul started its first creamery in Anand, highlighting the delivery of a giant creamery. In 1965, the Amul company launched Amul Butter. In 1970, Amul introduced the manufacture of milk powder and food products for Babies from buffalo milk. In 1980, Amul launched India’s first hydration drink, Stamina. In 1994, Amul introduced pizza and cheese, increasing its range of products. In 2000, Amul launched ice cream, quickly achieving remarkable market penetration. In 2007, Amul transformed into a big milk company in Asia. In 2013, Amul crossed the Rs 20000 crore revenue mark. In 2019, Amul brought in a collection of sweets in the shop. In 2021, Amul introduced dairy-free products to the market by serving to transform client preferences. In 2023, Amul recorded a turnover of Rs 59000 crores by executing its fixed expansions.
Over the past few decades, Amul has expanded into a broad range of milk products, opportunely increasing its presence throughout India and more than 40 countries throughout the world.
Amul’s Revenue Model
In essence, Amul works on the collective model, an arrangement where each collaborator is a joint owner and shares in the profits. Basically, the dairy collectives operate on this rule. It focuses on rural conventions, working together, and forming a team. This community then assembles milk from small-scale farmers, processes it and sells the final Product under the same company. This technique aims to offer production efficiencies and provide an excellent cost for agriculturalists by removing the intermediaries. The three-tiered formation of Amul is as follows:-
a) Hamlet Creamery Collective Society: At the democratic level, every milk manufacturer in the rural areas is a part of the Village Dairy Cooperative Society. These manufacturers choose their agent, who handles the day-to-day aspects of the society.
b) Community Dairy Union: The agents from each society handle the Community Dairy Unions. These associations manage the filtering, wrapping and selling of dairy milk products.
c) State Milk Collaboration: These frozen products are distributed to the state milk collaborators, which transports the products in the market.
