The Biography of Mamata Banerjee

Mamata Banerjee is an Indian legislator and a legal practitioner who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from the year 2011 to 2016. She was the first and the only female person to hold that office. Being the creator and chairperson of the All India Trinamool Congress ( AITC), she earlier worked as a Union Cabinet Minister. She created the All India Trinamool Congress in 1988, after dividing the Indian National Congress and became its second chairperson in the year 2001. She created history as the first residing Chief Minister of India to argue as a legal practitioner in the Supreme Court. She earlier was the first female  Minister of Railways, the second female Minister of Coal, Minister of Human Resources Development, Women and Child Development in the cabinet of the Indian government. She rose to high profile after banning the former land methods  for the   development of the Left Front- operated government West Bengal for Special Economic Zones at the cost of cultivators and the farmers at Singur. In 2011, she carried out an overwhelming victory for the All India Trinamool Congress association in West Bengal, defeating the 34-years-old Communist Party of India. She served as a party to an overwhelming victory in the 2011 West Bengal election interviews. She worked as a member of West Bengal Legislative Assembly from Bhabanipur from 2011 to 2021. She was born on 5th January 1955 in Kolkata, West Bengal to a Bengali Brahmin family. Her parents' name were Promileshwar Banerjee and Gayatri Devi. Her father, Promileshwar Banerjee, had lost his life when Mamata Banerjee was just seventeen years old. In 1970, she had finished her higher secondary education from Deshbandhu Shishu Sikshalay. She  earned her bachelor's degree in history from Jogamaya Devi College. Subsequently, she pursued her postgraduation degree in Islamic history from the University of Calcutta. This is accompanied by a standard of education from Shri Shikshayatan College and a law degree from Jogesh Chandra Chaudhari Law College, Kolkata. When she was fifteen years old, she became focused on politics. While pursuing her graduation in history from Jogmaya Devi College, she set up Chhatra Parishad Unions, the student wing of the Congress party, beating the All India Democratic Students Organisation linked with the Socialist Unity Centre of India. She started her diplomatic career in the Congress party as a girl in the 1970s. In 1975, she became famous after she danced on the car of civil fighter Jayaprakash Narayan as an objection against him during the Emergency. In the 1984 legislative sessions, she became one of India's junior legislators ever, by defeating professional Communist politician Somnath Chatterjee, to achieve the Jadavpur parliamentary Constituency in West Bengal. In 1984, she became the chief executive officer of the Indian Youth Congress. She surrendered her seat to Malini Bhattacharya of the CPIM in the 1989 general elections. In the year 2021 after winning in the election she had set up a new slogan Khela Hobe where the leaders of the All India Trinamool Congress had danced on it . But soon on 4th May 2026 she had lost her position and was succeeded by Suvendu Adhikari a member of Bharatiya Janata Party.
