While writing this novel - The Magic Pill, I thoroughly enjoyed the humorous journey of the protagonist, Badal da, a widower nearing his retirement. He suffers from a mysterious stomach problem that seems to have no proper diagnosis or cure. He jigs around from one doctor to another and from one hospital to another and lands himself into several comic situations, which tickle the readers from beginning till the end. But the story has a very emotional undertone and addresses to the burning topic of old age loneliness. I place this novel in my readers hands. I hope they will not only enjoy reading it but would also plunge into deep thought about the possible solutions to the old age loneliness in this modern world. -Kamal Kant Lal
