રાતના લગભગ નવેક વાગ્યાનો સમય હતો. રોહિતભાઈ થાક્યાપાક્યા દુકાનેથી ઘરે આવ્યા અને સોફા પર બેઠા. પંચાવન વર્ષની વયે પહોંચેલા અને ગામડાના ઘી દૂધ ખાઈને મોટા થયેલા રોહિતભાઈની તંદુરસ્તી ખૂબ સારી હતી. શહેરની મોહમાયા પચ્ચીસેક વર્ષ પહેલા તેમને અહીં ખેંચી લાવી હતી, અનસૂયા બહેને રાબેતા મુજબ પાણીનો ગ્લાસ આપ્યો. પાણી પીતાં જ રોહિતભાઈએ રાહતનો શ્વાસ લીધો અને અનસૂયાને પૂછ્યું, “સમીર ઘરે આવ્યો છે કે નહીં? આવ્યો હોય તો મારી પાસે મોકલ.” અનસૂયાબહેને સમીરને બૂમ મારી બોલાવ્યો. બૂમ સાંભળતા જ સમીર મનોમન મૂંઝાતો બેઠકરૂમમાં આવી પહોચ્યો. “શું કામ છે પપ્પા?” રોહિતભાઈએ સમીરને પોતાની પાસે બેસાડ્યો અને પોતાની પાસેની બેગમાંથી ધંધામાંથી
