The sage watches in amazement at Shiva's joy and the lack of any apparent purpose in their lives. He reflects that only a fulfilled person can experience such joy, and he begins to respect Shiva. After the performance, the village children bring food, which Shiva collects. They take a break for lunch, during which the sage asks Shiva if the enjoyment of their play is for food. Shiva replies that they can ask for food but that joy cannot be demanded; it simply comes. He emphasizes the essence of joy and the innocence found in children.
