પ્રકરણ ૧: સીમમાં સંભળાયેલો કાળજું ચીરતો અવાજ** સૌરાષ્ટ્રની ખમીરવંતી ધરતી પર જાણે કુદરતે સોનાની મહોરો વેરવી હોય એવું એ રળિયામણું ગામડું. ગામની રક્ષા કરવા કુદરતે જાણે ચારેતરફ ઘટાદાર વૃક્ષોની લીલીછમ હારમાળા ગોઠવી હતી. ગામની બરોબર વચોવચથી એક નદી કલકલ નાદ કરતી વહી જતી હતી. આ નદી એટલે માત્ર પાણીનો સ્ત્રોત નહીં, પણ ગામડાના લોકો માટે એ હૃદયના ધબકારા સમાન હતી. ચોમાસામાં નદીના નીર જ્યારે ઉછાળા મારતા, ત્યારે લાગતું કે જાણે ધરતી માતા હરખમાં આવીને નૃત્ય કરી રહી છે.
