Chapter-10

Truth Revelation

Listening this he puts down his cup of coffee and stares at me as if he drank something bitter. I don’t know how this thought came to your mind. Don’t take me wrong. I think this way because she has gone somewhere without informing anyone. If she is in relationship may be that person is involved in her some missing conspiracy. I explain it so well that he looked convinced. I will give a thought when I come back from Scotland. Okay! What are your interests? I like reading, travelling and much more and hope this time I find true love and he smiles and I shyly smiles back. What about you Nora? I had an ex who betrayed me and I managed to recover from the misery because of my friends. Great! I must call you lucky then. You too will have reason to smile and soon you find the one for yourself I say by looking into his eyes. He understands and suddenly his phone rings and he leaves. Bye Nora! Bye George! We smile at each other and he looks at me until lift is closed.

I close the door and pick Brownie, my dog and start kissing him. Oh, my baby I missed you and he licks me back. I give him something to eat and he gets busy eating, looking at him I feel that he has got weak. I play the music and prepare something for dinner in the kitchen and think about George, his smile, his looks dazzle me but the thought that Mrs. Marie lied about her son distracted me. Where has she gone? to whom? Is she alive or not? Oh God! I hope she comes back as George needs her more. I get worried. After making soup and noodles for myself, I switch off the music and start watching movie on TV. After few moments Mr. Davis rings the doorbell although I was not in a mood to talk but still opens the door and says yes, Mr. Davis. Are you busy Nora? Yes, I am eating my dinner. Oh! sorry to disturb you just wanted to know if there is any news about Mrs. Marie because I saw her son in your apartment sometime back. Why is he so interested? why? I think. No, Mr. Dawson, she is still missing and her son is very upset and worried about her. That’s sad, are you missing Mrs. Marie or her fighting with you? I laugh and taunt him. He laughs and replies that she was a good time pass and please have your dinner and I won’t take your much time. I close the door and think that sometime we even miss our enemy because they are opposite to word friend.

Before going to bed, I check my cell phone and there were lot of messages in the ‘high school buddies’ group.

I think all of them seem busy tomorrow but if you have time then come to my place. Hannah again replies.

Okay tomorrow dinner is on you.

Gloria.

You guys are really enjoying without me.

Why don’t you come for next weekend?

I try she reply.

I put down my phone and switch off the light. Hope in office tomorrow I don’t get any sort of surprise.

Next day, in office I see victor busy with work, his table looked like shelves of files piled up and he stares me very badly. But I ignore him, you deserve this idiot. Stella gives me a smile and I hope that she has understood that what happens when you mess with the boss. Lilly is quite busy on her laptop. I come to my cabin and relax on my chair. Ethan calls me in his office. He instructs me with some sort of work like he is going to merge other stores to expand his chain of business. In this regard he is going to the meeting which held next week. All quotations written in the file which he will use to purchase the stores. I clearly understand that how he trusts me. I will not break his trust. If he thinks me to be honest and trustful then I can be chosen for manager position.

In evening, I go to Hannah’s home. Her father deals in diamond. Her home is a big mansion in New York city. I remember when we were in high school then college, university we often came to her place and played baseball or do swimming. I always enjoy a lot in her home. But now her father has some health issues. So, he stays at home and he really needs a person whom they can trust and rely on and Victor considers himself a trustworthy and reliable person. Fool! I say in frustration. Her mother who is always busy taking care of her looks now seems more interested in Hannah’s life. She was never interested in her family business that’s why she joined as a co-partner in a bakery shop.

I reach Hannah’s place. I have come after six months. Her mother gives me warm welcome. She hugs me and I say today you haven’t gone to bakery store. No, construction is going on. I ask Samantha to handle that. After all she is working partner and I see all finance business. Nora, take this. I drink my favourite mocktail with chicken sandwich. Victor told about my business dinner in the whole office and they all think that I have an affair or probably they think of one night stand. What! She reacts in an indifferent way. I was drunk and upset that you didn’t come to my party though we all stand by your side every time. Common Hannah! I am on your side too. She laughs. If you told him about dinner then also tell him that he should also respect my privacy for the sake of our friendship. Yes, I talk to him. Don’t worry in future it will not affect our relationship. Darling, I really want you to be happy forever. If he hurts you, I will be very sad. I know you love me. Yaa, I do. I hug her and we laugh and her cat twinkly meow and I hold and kiss her. She smiles. I have to go tomorrow evening to my aunt Darby as she is not keeping well and asked me to come. Oh! please take care of her and if you need anything let me know.

While coming out of Hannah’s place, I see Victor coming in, we both exchange smile and I wonder that how in friendship we have to also accept the flaws of our friends. Because nobody is perfect. So, Hannah’s over confidence is acceptable because she is pretty sure about whom she has chosen.
