After some negotiation, Mr. Have You agrees but warns him of the potential consequences. On December 30th, the narrator wakes up early to avoid waking Mr. Have You, who usually rises at 5 AM. When offered the key to leave the hostel, the narrator declines, preferring to manage his own escape while relying on Mr. Have You to handle his attendance.
