The Sore Beach - Part 1

The sun dipped below the horizon, casting a warm, orange hue across the beach of Varsova in Mumbai. The beach was drenched in the warm hues of the setting sun, casting a serene glow over the sand and waves. Waves gently lapped at the shore, their rhythmic sounds creating a tranquil backdrop. Seagulls soared overhead, their calls mingling with the distant city noises. It was an evening that seemed to embrace the world in a peaceful embrace.

Amidst this tranquility, the beach remained nearly deserted. People rarely ventured to this isolated stretch, leaving it untouched by the bustle of city life. However, on this particular evening, fate had drawn two couples to this secluded spot.

Raj and Aisha strolled along the shoreline, the soft sand giving way beneath their feet. They were lost in their own world, wrapped in each other's company. As they walked, Aisha's gaze shifted towards the seawall, where something caught her attention.

"Look at that," the woman whispered, her voice barely audible over the rhythmic waves. She nudged her companion and nodded in the direction of the reclining figure. "There's a person over there, just lying against the seawall."

The man squinted in the fading light. "Must be some drunkard, passed out by the sea. Happens all the time," he replied dismissively.

They continued their walk, paying little attention to the solitary figure, who appeared to be in a state of profound repose.

A little while later, another couple, Sameer and Priya, arrived at the same spot. The sky had darkened, and the street lights flickered to life, casting an eerie glow around the area. They too noticed the man by the seawall, still unmoving.

"Doesn't he seem a bit odd?" Priya remarked, a shiver running down her spine.

"Yeah, maybe he's just really drunk," Sameer replied, trying to sound nonchalant. But a strange feeling gnawed at him.

They settled down on a bench not too far from the man, stealing glances at him occasionally. Half an hour passed, and the man had not moved a muscle. The couple noticed the position had changed slightly, a fact they whispered about to each other.

"Should we go check on him?" Priya whispered, concern evident in her voice.

Sameer hesitated, looking around the deserted beach. "I don't know, it's kinda creepy. But yeah, maybe we should."

As they approached the man, the sound of buzzing mosquitoes became noticeable. It was odd that the man seemed completely unfazed by them.

"Hey, mister, are you okay?" Sameer called out cautiously.

No response. The man remained still, his eyes closed, as if lost in slumber.

"We should call the police," Priya suggested, her worry escalating.

After a brief debate, they decided it was the best course of action. The police arrived shortly, the flashing lights of their vehicle breaking the tranquil spell of the night. They approached the man cautiously, checking for signs of life. It didn't take long for them to realize that this was more than just a case of public intoxication.

"He's not breathing," one officer declared, his voice hushed.

The atmosphere grew heavy as the officers cordoned off the area and began their preliminary investigation. The couple recounted what they had witnessed, their voices tinged with unease. The police took charge of the situation, their expressions somber.

As the body was carefully examined and the surroundings scrutinized, the initial sense of mystery deepened. There was something unsettling about the whole scene—the stillness of the beach, the odd position of the body, and the lack of any apparent cause for the man's death.

The officers exchanged hushed conversations, their faces etched with concern. They realized that what seemed like a simple case was evolving into something more complex. The circumstances surrounding the man's death were shrouded in ambiguity.

Finally, they decided to move the body and initiate the process for a postmortem examination. The beach, once a place of serenity, had transformed into a scene of intrigue and apprehension.

The questions hung in the air, unanswered and elusive: Who was this man? How did he end up on the beach? And what secrets did the waves whisper as they brushed against the shore?

Little did anyone know, this was just the beginning of a tangled web of secrets, lies, and hidden motives that would unfold as the investigation delved deeper into the enigmatic events of that bloomy evening on the deserted beach of Mumbai city.
