HAPPINESS - 139

Glimpses

We have set out to lock eyes with another;

What sin, then, are we about to commit?

It seems utterly futile to even imagine

That we can make a faithless one our own.

We have turned ourselves into a lifeless statue,

Hoping to melt a heart of stone.

We have waited upon ourselves for far too long;

Now, we have set out to appease a destiny that has turned away.

Shattered into countless fragments long ago,

We have stepped out into the breeze to seek some solace for the heart.

To cross this deep, vast ocean of worldly existence,

We have set sail in the boat of life.

What, after all, is the use of trying to reason with strangers? I have set out to reason with myself alone.

Behold the folly of infidelity—

It has set out to make its case to the entire universe!

My friend, today, amidst the autumn's fall,

I have set out to make beautiful flowers bloom through sheer effort.

**Decency**

Cease your attacks delivered through mere glances;

If you can, change the course of every path you tread.

Surrender yourself to the open skies above;

Shatter every chain that binds you to mere 'decency.'

Liberate your soul from all external ties;

Cast aside the clamor and noise of the outside world.

By sensing the peace that resides within,

Connect yourself to that transcendent, divine power.

Let your deeds weave a garland of noble actions;

Surrender yourself completely to the flow of existence.

**Decency**

The universe itself perished amidst the mere pretenses of decency;

The inner radiance died out, overshadowed by the glare of external lights.

Was it the excessive rigidity of convention, or simply one's own nature?

What manner of wind blew that caused the budding blossoms to wither away even amidst the spring?

The flowers paid the price for their audacity in provoking the thorns;

The yearning to achieve something extraordinary died out, lost amidst the mere spectacle of the scenery.

Mischief and beauty often go hand in hand in this world;

Yet, upon witnessing the intensity of true love, thousands of butterflies simply perished.

Time marched ever onward, leaving its traces in its wake;

And life—entangled in its own complexities—eventually perished amidst a maze of unanswered questions.

**In the Course of Conversation**

Let us try, just once, to reason with and soothe this naive, tender heart;

Let us try, for a few fleeting moments, to let it find a home within another's soul.

If only to make the journey of life pass by with greater ease—

Let us try, today, to turn a mere traveling companion into a true soulmate.

Lost in conversation, we never realized when we had grown so close;

Now, in our yearning for peace and solace, let us try finding comfort in a warm embrace.

We have played enough games with the heart;

It is time to cast aside these childish antics. Let us lift the veils of ignorance from our eyes

and truly take a look.

I have shared a long and deep bond with pain and sorrow;

now, my friend,

let us lift up the basket of happiness

and give that a try as well.

**In the Course of Conversation**

In the mere course of conversation, I cannot even reveal the state of my heart;

nor can I bridge the distance—from my gaze to yours—

through the path of our eyes alone.

Roam across the entire universe and see for yourself,

my beloved;

no one else—even if only for a brief moment—

can offer a love as true as mine.

I desire your disgrace not in the slightest; I wish only for your happiness;

yet, amidst a gathering of people,

I cannot openly profess my love for you.

Stealing away from the prying eyes of the world,

for one final time today,

I cannot even meet with you to quench the thirst of my soul.

I have set off on a relentless chase

after my dreams and desires, my friend;

and now, no storm—however fierce—

can ever dislodge me from where I stand.

**A Summer Afternoon**

The afternoon of a summer day possesses a unique character of its own;

everyone—young and old alike—seems to lose their peace and tranquility.

To seek refuge from the barrage of the sun's scorching rays,

both humans and animals alike seek shelter and slumber in the shade.

Savor the joys of every season, and refrain from felling trees;

for greenery and the trees themselves are the true sowers of coolness.

While half-naked children frolic and bathe in cool water, the laborer

cleanses his body with the sweat born of the scorching heat's fury.

The melodious call of the cuckoo bird casts a spell of enchantment,

and the birds of the air busily gather materials

to construct their nests.

**It Grew Late**

It grew late—too late—in truly understanding the nature of life;

it grew late while I wandered aimlessly, here and there.

From that place—

where neither honor nor respect was to be found—

it grew late before I finally managed to leave.

If one fails to understand exactly where to pause and stop... I

I was too late to halt my steps while there was still time.

Realizing the delicate nature of the situation,

I was too late to break free by any means necessary.

Today, having drunk from the goblet of beauty,

I was too late to regain my composure amidst the gathering.

Oh, having drunk from the hands of exquisite beauty,

I was too late to let my love overflow with tenderness.

Though surrounded by fairies, each more stunning than the last,

I was too late to let my heart flutter at the sight of such beauty.

Who Knows Why?

Who knows why people drink from the cup?

Do they live merely for the sake of existing?

To find a fleeting happiness and soothe the heart for a few days,

Do they willingly embrace the pain of love?

Fearing disgrace should they draw too near,

Do they content themselves with merely gazing from afar?

To extinguish the burning flames of passion,

Do they stitch up their wounded hearts with a smile?

And how, indeed, are they to express their love?

Do they hold back, fearing their words might cause offense? 7-5-2026

**Smoldering Questions**

We shall manage to get by even without you;

And never again shall we meet, not even once more.

Now, only smoldering questions remain;

No longer is there even the solace of answers.

If the fire burns from both sides,

Then let the sparks keep burning, day and night.

Celebrate your joys today, if you wish;

For a time will surely come for us, too.

Love is bound to bear fruit eventually;

For one day, your heart, too, shall yearn with longing.

**Mother**

The messenger was delayed in arriving;

And with that, the moment of peace and tranquility was lost.

Mother sent a letter asking, "When will my son return?"

Once again, she sowed the seeds of a smoldering question.

Standing at the doorway, gazing down the road,

She fell asleep right there, worn out by the long wait.

Filled with the yearning to catch a glimpse, and brimming with hope,

Yet another evening slipped away just like that.

If you have made up your mind not to meet,

And did not come even when called—Mother wept.

**Special**

Nothing *too* extraordinary has been written here;

Nor have I portrayed my beloved as a mere servant.

I wrote this for myself and for my loved ones;

I have not elevated ordinary dance to the stature of *Raas*.

Whatever came to my heart, I penned down in verse;

I merely wrote the words—I did not write the *essence* itself.

With a well ahead and a chasm behind—facing such a dilemma—

I have not dared to portray the absolute Truth as a mere illusion.

If one wishes to draw the light toward oneself,

Then one must not allow darkness to linger anywhere nearby.
