Chasing butterflies …….

(A spicy hot romantic and suspense thriller)

By

Kotra Siva Rama Krishna

“There is to me. She used to be a very good friend to me. I liked her a lot and accepted her as a close friend. But….”

“You said that she tried to make you a drug addict.” Sukanya said.

“She always appeared so good to me. She behaved always so good. Why did she try to make me a drug addict? Whatever that brute might promise to her, how could she even think such a thing on me?” there was distress on the face of Susmitha. “I just cannot digest that even now.”

“I knew about that Madhuri well. We used to play together.” Sukanya said. “What I am going to say may not be liked by you. But I am still having soft corner and a good opinion on Madhuri.”

“How and why?” Susmitha asked her. “Is it is just because of her troubling past? Is it is just as her mother was forced to do prostitution  by her father?” Susmitha paused. “That is indeed bad. I too felt quite pathetic on knowing that. But still what she tried on me…”

“What she tried on you may not be excusable.” Sukanya said. “But we don’t know the real reason for her behavior. Whatever may be the reason behind her behavior, she sure did a mistake by trying to make you a drug addict. But all people do mistakes. She may be feeling a lot regretful now for her trying to make you a drug addict. Excusing people is a great thing, is it is not?” looking into the eyes of Susmitha, Sukanya said.

“Indeed it is. That is what I am trying to do in myself.” Susmitha said. “I know that she sure did that only on the command of that rascal, my cousin Manohar. He might have blackmailed her in some way or the other and made her do that.” She breathed deeply.

“Sure he might have. Every difficulty is different and the difficulty of leading a pathetic life like Madhuri is even more different. How a child like Madhuri would feel if her mother was gang raped?”

“Don’t talk like that at all. I just cannot hear.” Susmitha said emotionally. “Her mother did a mistake by bearing all that in silence. Why did she do so? Why could not she go against her husband and those rascals?”

“We were not in her place, so we cannot say anything about that.” Sukanya said. “What made her to bear all that so we cannot say. Without knowing the full facts we cannot blame anyone. She might be blackmailed or she might be forced in some peculiar way that she could not resist, how we can say?” Sukanya frowned.

Susmitha remained in silence. After few seconds she looked into the face of Sukanya and said “You are right.”  She paused again another few seconds and asked “why did not she think of her child before committing suicide?”

“We cannot say that it was hundred percent suicide. It might be murder as well. No one much cared about that then.” Sukanya said.

“Madan’s family are relatives to them. They too did not bother about it much?” Susmitha asked vehemently. “How did they allow such things go in that home so?”

“Madhuri’s father was a very bad man. At one time he was very rich and ruined all his properties and assets with his bad habits. He did not allow anyone interfere with his family matters. All those bad people who raped Madhuri’s mother were his creditors.” Sukanya said.

Susmitha did not say anything. The distress in her was even more intensified. The pity towards Madhuri in her had become even more.

“The villagers did the good thing in the end. They killed him.” Sukanya said.

“You are hundred percent right. Those types of people don’t deserve a place on earth. He is an insult to fathers.”

“That is what I too always think.” Sukanya said.

“I want to hear all that again. Please tell me.” With a frown Susmitha asked her.

Sukanya breathed deeply and hissed out heavily. “In fact if they did it a long time before that both mother and daughter would have been saved from the torture and sexual abuse. That rascal sent a forty years aged person into his daughter’s room. That brute savagely raped her. The villagers heard the cries of Madhuri and forced themselves into the house and found what happened. They could not contain their rage. They beat Madhuri’s father black and blue. Of course, he has already become quite weak in health because of his heavy drinking. But he died mainly because of the villagers thrashing him so. They did the same thing to that brute as well and handed him over to the police. No one bothered about Madhuri’s father. No case filed against the villagers. In fact almost all the villagers beat him heavily and it could not be found out who was really responsible for his death.”

“So nice a thing in my opinion.” Susmitha nodded her head with a sort of satisfaction. “But our Madhuri was brutally raped at such a tender age!”

“Yes. I was not here then. I have heard it from others. But I could understand how a child would feel after a sexual abuse made against her so.” she too went near to the wall and leaned on that. They both were seated on the bed then.

“My God! It is horrifying even to think.” Susmitha said. “Who took the responsibility of that girl then?’

“Our Madan’s family. They did join her in hostel and looked after her education. Our Madan used to be a good friend to her. Our Madan’s family is quite generous in many matters.” Sukanya said. “In fact my baava cleared all the debts of Madhuri’s father also.”

Susmitha nodded her head and said “Indeed great. I understood that.”

“I did meet Madhuri only on few occasions afterwards. She became quite pathetic and nonchalant then. How she used to be with you? How she behaved? The experiences she had gone through in her childhood must have strong effect on her.”

“Never different. I never have thought there was such a troubling past behind her.”

“It is surprising to me. With whom she used to move close?” Sukanya asked her.

“My cousin. He is a rogue. How she had got his friendship I cannot understand.” Susmitha said.

“She used to be a good friend to you too. Why did not you warn her about your cousin?”

“I did not know about her friendship with my cousin until very late. They had taken care like that.” Susmitha said.

            “Surprising! Why?”

“My cousin wanted to ruin me through her. If I knew about the link between them I suspect Madhuri.”

Sukanya nodded her head. “Alright. But Madhuri could behave in normal way after such experience behind her is surprising to me. She must have strong will.”

            Susmitha frowned.

“You may not think of but do you know what type of effect it would have if children subject to sexual abuse?” looking into the eyes of Susmitha, Sukanya asked.

“I am not a psychologist. I seldom think about such matters.” Susmitha smiled.

“But I do.” Sukanya said. “The sexual abuse would have more effect on their psyches than the body. It creates fear in them. They develop disgust towards male. They might not even have been known what people would do in sexual intercourse. When they are forced to do it in such a way, they shall be subject to mental shock. Some children may never come out of that. They never can accept sex in a normal way even after they become adults.”

“Your analysis is right.” Susmitha nodded her head.

“Those children who subjected to sexual abuse and forced rapes must have special treatment and counseling. Otherwise their damaged psyches would be damaged even more. There is no surprise if they become mentally crippled forever.”

“I agree.” Susmitha nodded her head. “After hearing all what you have said to me, I decided strongly to excuse Madhuri completely. For some reasons I cannot contact her now. But once I made contact with her, I shall sure make her my best friend again.”

“A very good decision indeed.” Sukanya nodded her head.

“Why you are always after me like this? It would not be proper.” Madan did not like that Mamatha coming after him every now and then.

They both were in the tope at that time. “If you say something I shall stop coming after you like this.” Mamatha said to him.

“Tell what it is?” looking into her face Madan asked her. “I just want this torturing to be stopped.”

“Say that you would marry me. Then I stop coming after you like this.” giggling shamelessly she said.

“Don’t hope so at all. I have already made it quite clear to you that I never can marry you.” Madan firmly said to her.

“I too said to you many a time that I am in love with you a lot.” Moving opposite to him and looking into his face she said. “And I never let you marry anyone else except me.”

Madan observed her for a moment. She was aged nineteen or so by then. She was full of youth and her big breasts were thrust up and enticing to him. She did not wear a bra inside and they were swaying terribly with her body movements. She deliberately let the cleavage appeared to him.

“You have no shame at all. First learn how to dress properly.” Turning his head with disgust he said.

“If my dressing is that much improper why you look at me like this?” once again going opposite to him she demanded. “After enjoying my beauty more than one minute you found my dressing improper?”

“Just shut up and go away from here.” He angrily said.

“Madan please.” With a pleading look in her eyes she said. “I know that I am not bad. You too know about that. You sure have to marry someone or other in future. Why should not it is me? I shall be quite obedient to you always. I shall give you as many children as you want.”

“How unabashedly you are talking, do you know?” with contempt he said. “To marry someone there must be love. I am not feeling it towards you. So don’t please pester me like this.” turning his face away he said.

“If you did not like me at all, why did you behave in our childhood so? We both played so silly games. We have played wife and husband game also. Just remember how we played that game. We both were so intimate in those days.” She angrily said.

“You, yourself are saying that was our childhood. We both were quite innocent and stupid. So we did behave like that.” Madan said. He was now feeling very bad for his behavior so in those days.

“But I did not take it like that then. I have taken it seriously and developed love on you. I cannot marry anyone else. I cannot share either my body or life with anyone else except you.” there was sudden change in her face. It clouded with sorrow.

“Mamatha please.” Her emotional outburst did not take much change in him. “It never happens that I love you or marry you. Forget me and your cousin Nagaraju is so much after you. Love him and marry him. You both can lead a happy married life.”
