My mother will have a hard time hearing this. She'll roll her eyes when I say she's heroic. You see, my mother is so humble she doesn't know she's a mountain.
And that her strength is my strength. My mother pours out so much love, never knowing she's an ocean. We all jump and swim and play in these waters, and it's all because of her. Her light shines on us, warms us, gives and sustains life, yet it never dawns on her that she's the sun. My mother is as beautiful as she is modest. As powerful as she is gentle. My mother is magical, the place we run to for answers, and she doesn't realize that she's a forest. My mother is everything I admire. Everything I aspire to be more of. Filled with pride, yet never boasts or brags. My mother is the loveliest person I've ever known.
Never give any kind of pleasure to a boy you wouldn't give your-self.
Kiss like a promise and wait for the other person to break it. Human beings are not ships; you cannot save them from sinking
if they don't want to be rescued from the floodwaters. Loving someone that doesn't give a damn about you isn't sexy; it's misplaced energy, also known as self-destruction.
Don't ever treat anyone like a refugee from a civil war; they will come back from battle and leave you as wounded as if you were the one who had been paid for military service. Forgiveness isn't putting the weapon down; it's learning how to kiss the person pulling the trigger, not just a quick peck on the cheek, but a full one with tongue. Let the dead be dead.
They have no answering machines, no phonelines: if you call them, only the ground will ring.
Never trust a boy who already has a pack of condoms ready in his coat pocket before he even asks your name.
When the world tries to break your back with its weight, get a stronger spine.
Your father left us because he was ashamed for not being the one that gave birth to you. Even oceans misplace their anchors sometimes.
Never "give a man permission."
You shouldn't have to. It should be mutual.
Stop treating your body like currency-don't pay anyone who doesn't deserve it.
She'll roll her eyes when I say she's heroic, but she's the reason I know the word "love"
at all.
I see the entire world in her.
And what I hope for most is that one day
she sees it, too.
A Mother's love is something that no one can explain. It is made of deep devotion
and of sacrifice and pain.
It is endless and unselfish and enduring come what may For nothing can destroy it or take that love away.......
It is patient and forgiving when all others are forsaking, and it never fails or falters even though the heart is breaking.
It believes beyond believing when the world around condemns And it glows with all the beauty of the rarest, brightest gems...
It is far beyond defining, it defies all explanation.
And it still remans a secret like the mysteries of creation......
A many splendoured miracle man cannot understand And another wondrous evidence of GOD's tender guiding hand.
I'll smile and say-she's kind, she's funny, she lights up every room.
But if you ask me with your heart open...
I'll pause, swallow the lump in my throat, and tell you-she's the strongest soul I've ever known.
I've watched her carry storms in silence, wipe her own tears when no one was watching, and rise every time life tried to break her.
She's not just my mom.
She's my strength.
She's my safe place.
She's my everything.
