Public Service Announcement

A public service announcement is a form of communication in the public interest circulated by the media instead of a fee for increasing public awareness and transform their nature. Sometimes these forms of communication present unsettling appearances, concepts or natures that are created to surprise the watchers for understanding. For example, a public service announcement can present pictures of people before they consumed drugs and after they had become drug- addicted or the actual comedy of mistreatment as well as summarising the need to stop those methods. In the UK, public service announcements are known as popular information films, whereas in Hong Kong, it is known as announcement in the public interest circulated.  The original public service announcement were created before and at the time of Second World War years in the USA and the UK. In 1938 UK, nonprofessional actor Richard Massingham created Public Relationship Films Ltd as a private agency for creating short educational movies for the people. In the films, he mostly acted as a clumsy character who was slightly more foolish than the average person and sometimes illustrated the communication of the movie by explaining the barriers if it were overlooked. The movies covered subjects such as how to cross the roads, how to drive properly without affecting the roads, how to reduce the risk of infectious diseases and how to swim. During the war, he was appointed by the UK Ministry of Information to create movies about the war struggle . He started to create huge movies for private and public companies after the War.  In the year 1941, the Ad Council, earlier known as the War Advertising Council, was established in US when America had arrived into the Second World War  allowing the American people to fill their savings in bond issued by the government. After the Second World War, the PIFs were used to teach the people about a wide variety of difficulties. In the UK, they were created for the Central Office of Information (COI), and again by a hired person which were usually small film industry, such as Richard Taylor Cartoons. They were provided to the journalists without any charge. From the 1960s, their profitability as a free of cost means to pervade the gaps in popular breaks left by the unpurchased advertising airtime has resulted to their daily consumption. The most popular subjects of PSAs are based on labour conditions, such as the multimedia "Emergency Preparedness & Safety Tips on Air and Online" interactive radio program. A representative PSA is a component of a public awareness program to tell or teach the public about problems such as obesity or drug addiction. On 1st December 2004, in India , West Bengal a PSA named Buladi was created by the puppets to make people aware of preventing the risk of HIV/AIDS. For eg in one Buladi PSA, a puppet man tells a his puppet wife to come close but the puppet wife tells no, seeing that the puppet man gets angry. Soon, the anchor puppet lady tells that people must use condoms or dial in the phone number to decrease the chance of the sexually transmitted disease then the puppet man tells how about playing a ludo.  On 2nd October 2014, during Gandhi Jayanti, the Swaach Bharat Abhiyan was launched so that people can keep the surroundings clean by throwing the waste in dustbin and by using toilet instead of urinating and defecating in the street, by washing hands with soap after using a toilet , touching an animal, and before eating food and flashing  the toilet after use to reduce the risk of infection.
