DREAMS

LIFE BOAT

I was lost in my dreams, where I saw myself in mid of vast ocean hanging on to a floating log. I saw a lifeboat nearing me and an eager longing wish to live more, made me to board it. When I got into it, I saw all ages of people struggling to survive for their existence.

I stood silently in a small corner when a matured young man came to me and sat next to me, ignoring the crowd. I was so tensed and worried that I never saw him nearing me. He slowly drew his hand on to my shoulder and the other one around my waist.

His grip was stronger than the waves that were beating against the log, I was in. He was far beyond description after that and I forgot everything around.

But, when I realized my surroundings later, I felt the waves that pushed the log to the lifeboat for more warm and welcoming than the air currents between the people in the lifeboat.

Suddenly he loosened his grip and I felt freely into the cold sea never again to feel the warmth of air.

CHANGE

In my dreams, I saw, I started my journey from my in-laws never to return again. I had various reasons to think so.

But I confess, that I decided it with a confused mind and everything got cleared by the end of the journey.

I noticed, not a very old women in train near the footboard. Seeing and being with her along the journey, helped to analyze that my own materialistic problems at in laws were nothing. I looked at her sympathetically whenever I went to void my bladder. She was sitting on the filthy floor of the train at the entrance noticed, TOILET. I could see from my reserved seat, she wore a tattered shirt above and stained skirt below.

She had nothing to protect her feet but a small square of cloth to protect her head and hair. The scarf like thing on her head made her look a bit lady like.

I had a strong desire to go to her and talk to her but fear of being looked down by other women with me during the journey caused a spasm in the belly, stopping me to do as I desired.

I brought two biscuit packet at around six in the evening to attend my stomach, one for her. But she threw it through the window, I supposed, as she must have thrown her life for someone, who did not care. Then I realized that I am an hour away from my destination, a place to enjoy for few weeks and return with a heavy heart to prove my fertility.

DARE

I saw him from the corner of my eye, staring at me. Though I know him a little, I feel I was too sympathetic towards him. I have been noticing him since my days in my holiday resort which is actually a nomadic place for me.

I feel a strange punch in my belly due to his presence or sudden appearance in the scene. As I was bound to work with him for a certain period, I tried to compromise with the situation. But situation dramatically changed such that time itself taught him a good lesson.

Now, when I face the same pair of eyes, I try to be as casual as possible, but the glaring glow of his eyes, I was worried.

He enjoys my company but when I pretend that I don’t like him or neglect him, His glow of eyes turn out to be a rude glare saying, ”Dare not you avoid me, .i will kill you” I woke up sweating in sleep and was relieved that it was a dream.

SEED

I am a seed inside a watermelon, so I would sleep and dream unless I am given a chance to wake up and be me.

I dreamt that I would be out when my melon is cut open by a fruit vendor and uses for a fruit chat. If the fruit stall was near a fertile ground, I would be lucky to be picked and thrown in the dust. Where I have a chance to wake up from my sleep, sprout up into a vine, grow along the dusty road with very less water and shade to protect me. I may get a few sprinkles on me when humans gargle their parched throats on the side ways or just throw water on their faces to refresh themselves, or by Gods grace, if it would rain. But, my daily requirement of water is not well met, then I am dead. I asked God, not to send me out to a fruit vendor’s fate.

Then I dreamt again and wished to be out of my melon to be sold in the market. Where people just bought the melon, ate the pulp, squeezed the juice, pickled the skins with some white flesh. Then picked all seeds, washed and put them in a sieve to dehydrate us in the sun. They purposely dried us up to ultimately peel us and eat the inner me as a dry seed. So this way there is no future, no growing back to life after waking up from sleep. Then I am dead. So again I asked God not to send me out to the market’s fate.

This time I prayed in my dream, that my fate would be better, so God wrote my fate.

I and my melon got picked by a mother who loved life. She took us home, cooled my melon in water, cut open slowly, sliced up all red flesh and served her kids. Then picked me and all other seeds and put us in a bowl of water. After we were soaked, she walked to her kitchen garden and sprinkled us near the fence. It was a fertile land and well watered. She gave us a chance to sprout, creep, stand up on the fence, grow along the ground and my dream to live got fulfilled by a humble mother who had no degrees, but only reverence for life and God.
