The Marriage that Never lasted

My heart ached slightly on thinking about my marriage which never lasted with him .

" Marriage ceremony has ended now , I wish both of you to have a happily married life ahead .Bride and Groom can now greet everyone and touch the feet of their elders receiving their blessings before starting this new phase of their life ", the priest instructed the newly married couple showering them with his blessings too.

Rahul and Priya stepped off from the mandap and started greeting their parents and other family members receiving their blessings in return.

I stiffened when I felt them coming near my side and in the very next second I started to walk away just to avoid meeting them.

" Arohi where are you going at this moment? Stand here , greet the couple first " , my mother whispered loudly, rolling her eyes at me.

Suddenly she caught my arm and dragged me by her side , flashing a sweet smile at the approaching couple. I lowered my head slightly as soon as they reached us.

Rahul and Priya touched my mother's feet in greeting .

" Stay happy forever you both and yes give me the good news soon ," my mother blessed them.

I couldn't help myself from noticing both of them looking each other with shy smile as soon as my mother said the words.

" Yes aunty soon you'll get the good news ", Rahul exclaimed looking priya with mischief in his eyes , " but before that when are you going to give me the good news ?"

" What !!" , my mother shreiked looking him with wide eyes and I also looked him slightly taken aback by his words.

" Uhmmm ...I mean the good news of this Satan 's marriage ," Rahul chuckled pointing in my direction .

All the three pair of eyes instantly looked at me while I just shifted in discomfort being the center of their attention.

" I myself don't know Rahul when will that day come because this girl doesn't listen to me no matter how much I scold her , she always try to scare off the boys who comes to see her " , my mother shook her head meanwhile pointing at her disappointing product , I mean at me.

" Take the last time only , when the boy asked her what movie is her favorite, she told him about the one where a wife kills her husband just because he doesn't listen her " , my mother glared at me while I just looked down awkwardly , " I am still waiting for his call ."

I rolled my eyes on hearing my mother's whining , way to embarrass me completely.

" Haha , I kind of know how that dude might be feeling , not anyone can deal with Satan , " Rahul replied as he looked me with a grin.

For a second everything stilled for me and I just looked at him , his eyes , his laugh and my heart clenched on realising that I lost him , my first love .

" Okay aunt I will meet you later , we have to greet others too" , Rahul stated looking at her and then looked at me with a smile , " Bye Satan , see you later and yes dont eat all the food prepared in my marriage ."

I narrowed my eyes at him while he just laughed back at me and then holding Priya 's hand he walked away from us.

For few moments my attention remained fixed on their joined hands and I couldn't help but think of my marriage with him.

My marriage where there were no real guests , no food , not even a proper priest because I married him when we were just kids and the only things which were present in my marriage were my small kitchen set to serve food to guest , his bullet train set in which the guest will arrive in our wedding , our soft toys who used to be our guests , my younger sister who used to play the role of priest getting both of us married.

A bitter chuckle escaped my throat on thinking how foolish I was in thinking that marriage with him to be real .

I considered him as my husband since the day I married him in childhood unaware of the reality of the real world . Maybe I was child but the intentions were pure , I loved him .

Now seeing him walking with priya , a mature Arohi within me has accepted it but that innocent childish Arohi only feels ...that her marriage didn't lasted with him.
